Thansk - that looks like an awesome idea/job. I like that better than the 'wood verson'

Sure,
Plywood one-piece cutouts to your dimensions like this:

Are much stronger than jointed lumber like this:

You could just glue and clamp 2 3/4" thick pieces together or screw them together. Together they roughly equal a 2x4 in thickness.
If you wanted to get fancy you could imitate those waterfall countertops like this:

By making it the canopy edge go all the way around and down, same thickness. When you double up the pieces just screw from the inside piece into the outside show piece of plywood. It could look something like this:

Anyways, my wife does our cad drawings. Sorry for the fred flintstones look.
That’s brilliant!

I really like this idea! Is there much flex in the conduit? Meaning do bumps and vibrations make the canopy rock or is it solid? I am looking to do a canopy on a 5ft tank and this is by far the easiest idea I've seen yet.

I will be doing my light hanger the same with the conduit.
The two pieces of plywood together is called laminating. You are strengthening the wood by using wood glue and screws and laminating the two pieces together. Bonding them.
Good stuff here.

Nice build!! I am thinking about floating my canopy to hide my 2 sets of Orphek Compact g2's over my SCA150 since it was a custom Rimless!! I THINK I AM going to bolt my canopy to my ceiling!! More to come....

I wish I could do that! I actually bought a new light so I may not even need to hang it anymore

I am just using this as an example, but my my SCA150 will sort of look like this with my lights
Instead of running the lights this way below mine will be running from side to side over my 150.
With the Orphek Compact g2's is gives your 60'' of light if you run them side to side and mounted on there mounting brackets that I got. That's why i want to float my canopy so you will see no lights on my build.
