Hey guys,

I recently started reefing (3 months in so far) and I have started to add frags to my tank. Most frags are softies, but I did add a few LPS frags in the mix as well. Tank is a 50g display with 30g sump.

Moving into the help, I currently have a 36'-48' orbit marine pro (gen 2) over the tank and not two days after purchasing this light, on a bit of an impulse/whim I purchased a radion 30w gen2 setup with mounting arm and reef link. Needless to say after looking for information for either fixture I am coming up short. The little information I found about the orbit says that most people can't get growth on corals from it. I need serious advice and guidance on which light setup will be the best for my tank. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask any other specific questions that may be relevant.

I would run both If I were you. I have a 90 gallon reef and I am running 2 gen 3 radion xr30's on mine.

Now, that's something I did not even consider. How would you propose that would work, as I would think both units would generate too much par for the softies in the tank. 1 light running blue and 1 running whites? Wouldn't the orbit block most of the light from the radion?

The radion is a lot stronger than the orbit. If you could get enough coverage with the radion I would just run it. If you run both I would run the radion in the center and put my softies on the sides of the tank.
