Hello Shadyraro - I've been thinking about an upgrade this summer and your build thread has really inspired me! I'm planning on a Cade 900 but just saw the announcement about the S3 and think I need to wait for it. The sump improvement, cord management false door and Cade-specific roller mat are so enticing! Unfortunately, I'm in the United States, so I probably have to wait until fall. The good news is I'm near the awesome AlgaeBarn crew here in Colorado and they are the US distributor, so I can bug them with questions.

Questions for you:
1. How's the Red Sea 4 part going?
2. Any intel on Reef Factory? I was interested in their devices and really bummed about their situation. Automation is really important to me, so I'm thinking about Apex.
3. Thoughts on lights for this tank? Two Radion XR15 G6 pro or blue? Or something else?

Hey there and thanks!

Yes the S3 is being released next month in Australia I believe and the improvements are really good, and as I'm looking to upgrade I'll just wait to see the price tags as they will definitely be more expensive then the current S2.

The 4 part has been running nearly a month now and I'm pretty happy with it so far. My corals have definitely coloured up more and even tho my alk originally went up quite a bit due to the formulas ratios, it's since settled down as has calcium and mag.

The Reef Factory servers will still be running regardless so the equipment will continue working as normal, it's a bit of a crap situation as RF has been really good for my setup but hopefully a company like Aquaforest buys them out but will just wait and see.
Worst case scenario there are ways to operate RF gear without the need for using their servers or app.

I originally wanted to go Apex but there was no stock in Australia at the time, and as for lights well my 2 XR15's have been good but I'm thinking about either adding 1 or 2 blades either side of the radions as a supp light or just going 3 or 4 blades for my next tank.
With the depth of the Cades and my scape the way it is the XR15's don't get enough coverage, there's shadowing and it needs more light towards the front even tho my lights are pretty much in the centre.

Anyway thats more money and I might be over thinking it so will see what happens.

Getting back into reefing after a few years and Just ordered a 900 frag from pet city in Mt gravatt. I was told there is a back order on them and was offered the 1200 for the same price but unfortunately the 900 is probably already pushing the available space.

If you can fit the 1200 in I would go for it, a bigger sump for starters and they're just a great size tank.

Update:

Last weekend I swapped out my Vectra S2 return pump for the Reef Factory base pump 5000. This pump is awesome, it's dead silent and being a wifi pump it enables me to control it from anywhere.
I also added the Reef Factory smart feeder which is great being able to feed my fish anytime I want, the Eheim auto feeder was pretty reliable but manually set where a wifi feeder is next level.
I also swapped out my ReefMat 500 for the 250, it’s a smaller footprint and gives me more room in the sump to play with and it’s doing a great job so far.
Plus my Pax Bellum is finally online! I've connected it to one of the Cade manifolds so I didn't have to add another pump, and so far so good. I'm curious to see what it does to my nutrients and whether or not my chaetos going to grow or not, but we'll just have to wait and see I guess.
And finally, one of my nems has split so I now have 3! :) I only bought it 9 months ago so at this rate it's going to be one every 3 months lol.

Happy reefing! IMG_8332.jpeg IMG_8369.jpeg IMG_8291.jpeg
What size hose you run off the manifold to the Pax 18? Looks like the reef mat hose.

Im pretty happy with the 900. Ive got almost everything together except the tank now 😆. Ive got 1 tunze 6105 on order but I might chase up another one. Planning a SPS dominant tank with a minimalist scape.

Update:

I decided to remove the Pax Bellum as it had become a big water pump ever since removing the Chaeto a few weeks ago. It was good for sump circulation but when I took it offline I also noticed a decrease in my ph, this could have been a combination of no more pax light running and our house been closed up more as we're in winter.
So to fix the pH issue I installed an Aqua Forest air scrubber and I have to say it has made an immediate impact, the ph has risen back up and beyond where it used to peak so I’m pretty happy with it.
Everything else is going good and I’ll be posting a YouTube video soon that I did on the weekend while doing a water change, I get asked a lot what my wc process is so thought I’d make a vid.

Jealous, I saw these got released recently here and started wondering if I should start making the investment.
With a kid one the way I'm thinking it'll be a smart move to free up some time (my current testing regime is terrible as it is... I just went from 29/5 to 9/7 without any testing LOL). So, this would certainly help with that.

Are the outlets in AU plugs or the US ones? Every picture I see is US so I've not been sure if you need to buy adapters for everything.

There’s one AU plug that connects to the 1link module which replaces the energy bar, this powers the apex unit via aquabus (usb) and also the trident, DOS etc via the 1Link ports which has 24v power outlets so it’s pretty good.
So far I have the apex pro and mxm module, the mxm allows me to link my radions and neros to the apex which is great but I haven’t set that up yet.
Eventually I’ll get a trident which tests alk, cal and mag and a DOS, maybe later on the NP trident which tests phos and nitrate but for now I’m just familiarising myself with the app as I only set it up a couple days ago.

Yeah okay, nice.
Was a bit worried there the energy bar thing required adaptors for everything for AU plugs and I was thinking that'd just be annoying/insane.
Would certainly be handy having all the gear talking to the one unit (provided that unit doesn't eat it at some point). I didn't realise there was an NP trident as well, that would be really cool to have.

If you had to use adaptors I wouldn’t buy it lol, one plug basically runs everything so far.
I think you should get one you won’t regret it 😀

Haha yeah look I'd love to. I can see it adding up pretty quickly though.
Would definitely want the trident.
Was chatting with the missus a little about it last night as we were doing the water change and mentioned how you can get a module for it so you can automate your water changes and set it to do a certain amount every day etc.
She then starts saying 'oh maybe it's worth looking into'... not realising that it's going to cost a good several grand to get what we want out of it (water change thing, plus testing with both trident types and that's just to start LOL).
