This little tank is a squat ten gallons. I’ve been building an island structure with rock, pond foam, and egg crate, with a waterproof pot hidden inside. Within, I’d like to try a few succulents planted above the water line. Probably “hens and chicks” to start. We will see what tolerates the light and possible salt creep the best. I am hoping that I have created enough barriers between the plants and the water to keep the salt in check.
I’m thinking of rock flower nems, macros, and small cool inverts for the submerged portion.
Flow will be achieved with a good powerhead, and lighted with either an AI Prime or a freshwater light.
Here we are so far! Playing around with possibly arranging driftwood and other sea ephemera on the high point. I will hide the heater behind the island.
The black parts will be hidden with a resin/sand mixture.
Still undecided on small rock placement, as well as the general shape of the island itself. It is almost taking up too much space and still requires balance. But, I could see potential for it to become swathed in macros, flowers, zoas, maybe mushrooms...
