Update:
I probably jumped the gun on this one, but I couldn’t resist the amazing sale. I bought a Hawaiian Punch BTA yesterday, which I named “bucket”, given the fact that within the first ten minutes, it firmly attached itself to the acclimation bucket and was a pain to pry off! Haven’t gotten any pics of it in the tank yet, given the fact that within a few hours, it moved itself behind the rockwork. I used a breeder net for a makeshift nem guard until I can 3D print a real one. I also picked up a green Duncan coral.

Update:
Today, my fish shipment from Michael’s NY Aquatic came in, and I couldn’t be happier! Everything looks great! I received 8 nassarius snails and a cleaner shrimp, which went into the 40B, and received my next two fish, a Coral Beauty Angelfish and a Longnose Hawkfish! They are currently in the QT tank, and despite some slight shipping stress, look extremely healthy!! The angel is named Flounder and the hawk is named Pinocchio. I look forward to keeping you posted on the new additions!!

In other news, I moved the frogspawns out of the QT tank and back into the 40B. They are definitely more retracted, but I think this could have to do with getting used to the new environment. Hopefully from here they’ll be able to recover on their own.

That CB is beautiful! I rarely ever see the CBS that have the stripes go all the way to their caudal fins.

Looks great. I will follow this thread. Coincidentally, I also bought this 40 G breeder and the stand in the Petco deal. Two months old now. This is my first salt water tank, and I will go a little slow. How big is your QT? And what are you using for acclimation tank?

My qt is my fluval 13.5 gallon tank. I don’t have any official acclimation tank, all fish or inverts are acclimated in a bucket.

A week in and the new fish are still doing great! The Hawkfish will eat about anything but the angelfish seems to only like grazing algae, and occasionally goes for mysis. Currently running PraziPro then I’ll do something to treat protozoan illnesses. Nothing has shown up yet, though.
The display tank is also doing well!

Shark, where is your heater ?
It’s horizontal at the top, you can see a bit of the silver just underneath the rim on the left side.
They horizontal is nice for a completely submersible heater like this one because it hides it well and keeps it out of the way for corals.

Your set up looks good. I thought it was cool that you made your own stand….I’m a diy type myself.
Thanks! I wish I could say I made it from scratch - but it did come with instructions. I don’t think I trust myself to build a stand…yet.

There’s been a slight change in plans, by the way. I had plans to keep the fish out for a while and make sure no parasites were moving into the new tank. I’ve had the clown in qt for a while on suspect of velvet (though it wound up being lymphocytosis), so decided to put my Aurora goby with the clown for just a while to monitor both. Not within an hour, the clownfish completely wrecked the goby’s fins and scales. It was really late at night at that point, so I decided to skip quarantine and even acclimation, and just threw the goby into the tank. So far she’s taken refuge with the pistol shrimp (hopefully they finally pair!) and is still doing alright this morning. She’s pretty battered up, though. I can’t believe how nasty that clown is!
So not only has the goby wound up moving immediately into the main display, but it’s very likely that the clown will not be going into the 40 gallon, on account for being perhaps the worst clownfish alive…

I really love my pink bar goby and pistol combo. They are an awesome part of the tank. We named ours Falkor!

I’m very sad to report that the anemone kicked the bucket — I think.
After my most recent water change, it began to crawl around, then it went under a rock and shriveled up. Last night, it looked absolutely awful, and is completely gone this morning. I’m 90% sure it floated somewhere and died, but I’m holding out hope that it’s just somewhere else now. Pretty upsetting given the expense and rarity of this anemone. I probably could have gotten a nice euphyllia for a similar price. I’m sure I’ll try another nem down the line, but I don’t think I could ever spend that much on a BTA again.
