Shedding gorgonian

Hi everyone! My new gorgonian in my 10 gallon. is currently shedding...not unexpected behavior, as I have read they do this to keep algae from growing on them. My question is, how do I remove - if I can safely remove - the shed tissue? Water parameters as of a few days ago are 10 ppm nitrates and .25 ppm or lower phosphates (I am no good at distinguishing 0 ppm from .25 ppm on the API test), I did a 20% water change this morning, and the gorgonian's polyps are extended during the day and closed at night (seems the opposite of other corals...is it normal?). The 650 GPH powerhead is sufficient to gently sway the gorgonian in the current. Here's a picture...thanks!

Mine did that today and I just turned the gyre pumps up a bit for a couple of hours and it came away.

I have a bunch of those "slimers". Just let them shed, it will degrade by itself. If it bothers you, use a turkey baster.

OK! Thanks. I'm ok with it, but my mom is not too keen on the shed tissue, so tomorrow I will use the turkey baster. Do I suck up the shed skin, blast it off, or do something else?

It's up to you (and your Mom) It won't hurt anything but you can remove it if you like.
