I have a maxima clam add it has uneven shell growth. Is this from the water flow?

Nice clam! I love Tridacna’s! I wouldn’t be concerned about how the clams shell grows. What I would be concerned with is if it stopped growing. That is when you need to worry and try to correct the issue/s.
You really can’t control how the clam grows other than by ensuring that calcium levels, lighting and phytoplankton feeding are optimal.

My guess is that one side is getting more light than the other. I would place it further up on your rock, as these clams need a lot of light. Plus, maximas and croceas need a solid surface to attach to, like rock, not sand or rubble.
I agree. The shell is laid down by the mantle. There is more mantle extension on that side.
