Fish tank, last cup change and water change many months ago.

Chaetomorpha filter needs to be thinned.

Reef skimmer, undumped in at least a month, and it is running fairly wet in comparison to the fish tank.

Tank of shame skimmer. Changed out 3 months ago (cleaned and emptied after overflowing for a year) .
The skimmer is clear acrylic, not black. Taken under white light, it’s much nicer under blues.
 
Well , despite changing the depth , the airflow , the water level the skimmatez the same
Maybe the docs and nutrients just aren’t black like they used to be
Seeing others with similar colour confirms this I guess
 
Raise it up, the sweet spot on those skimmers is 7 inches. Once I raised mine my skim mate is nice and dark and stinky, the adjusting is between 2 and 3

Also make sure the white Venturi piece that the air hose is hooked into didn’t calcify closed. I’ve had that happen and it will overflow.

Ok I’ll try that tomorrow but if I’ve not changed the level in 8 years why would that work now?

Oh wow, I didn’t realize you had it that long. Not sure, I know on mine I get the best performance at a depth of 7 inches.

Where the air hose attaches to the white piece that pushes onto the pump. The nipple the air hose pushes onto will calcify shut and you have to clear it out.

about once a week i inject some RO water with a syringe through the air intake, just by removing the red cap. (50-100ml sometimes more, the sound tells me if I should do it or not.)
I have much less calcification.
I no longer need to wet my hands for this.

Todays a little darker now thd Bacteria blooms well gone
