I also don't have a huge biology right now and don't think I'm overfeeding.

Yellowtail blue damsel, lawnmower blenny, six line wrasse, and a scopas tang. Coral banded shrimp, cleaner shrimp, and assorted snails and hermits.
Could be the issue.

So I was just doing my weekly cleaning on my Lifereef skimmer and was curious about how the different brands of skimmers are performing. I bought my skimmer used of of a member for my 120 build and after setting it up, it started producing skimmate within a day or 2. I have it running with a sicce 5.0 and honestly couldn't be happier. The pics are from my weekly cleaning. Let's see your pics and talk about what you love or don't about your current skimmer!

This is what my lifereef looked like when I first put it in no it skims way lighter, I think it took out most of the stuff my SCA 302 missed and now just takes out whats left

It's Saturday! Time for maintenance! But first, don't forget to snap and post a photo of the skimmer cup before you get it all sparkly clean! Here's mine!

I just got my first aquarium (used) two months ago and am still having trouble getting mine dialed in. It'll go from producing some decent froth to being really thin clean white bubbles. Have trouble getting it to run rich as BRS calls it.

Seems to do better if I don't clean the inside of the skimmer cup where the bubbles come up.

But it can go from just bubbling at the bottom of the cup to overflowing pretty quick.

Water is clear for the most part though and no algae growth or anything.

I wonder if it's oversized cause it's for 75-90 gallon and I only have a 40 gallon breeder with a 20 gallon sump. Around 53 gallons full.

May just need to keep playing with it and do small adjusts and wait longer.

Do yalls have trouble frothing after cleaning the cup good?
No worries... Not abnormal for a newer tank. Until your tank matures the skimmer may produce skim then go dormant until your bio-load increases again. When I was new at the hobbie I went thru the same thing. Bought a second high dollar skimmer thinking it would fix the issue only to discover the high dollar skimmer did the same thing. I would fiddle with it constantly... Get it skimming and leave it alone. The nasty skimmate will come eventually.
