Gem, Black, (3) Yellow, Purple, Black Hybrid, Chevron, Tomini, Blue, Achilles, Achilles Hybrid

Can see most in these videos...

Achilles was always my favorite and more so after I got one.

If I did a tank again, it would probably be species specific for either:
- Bandit Angel
- Achilles
- Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse (My white whale... tried it 3 times and no luck... I'm not good enough if even possible)

My Convict Tang. This is my second attempt at keeping one. The first one did not eat, no mater what I tried. This one was eating at Petco but they did not feed him anywhere near enough and he was getting emaciated. I really feel sorry for him. Knowing how difficult to get one that is eating, I finally get him after he was at Petco for almost a month, and was emaciated.
With this tang as plain coloration and as emaciated as he is, I am sure if I don't get him, he would died there.
Here are pictures of him on 1/30/2023 and today 2/25/2023

1/30/2023
He is so thin that these pictures show pinched dorsal muscle, and the body is so thin that the vertebrate ridge can be seen, but he started to eat right away so the stomach start to be fill. No fat there so we can see the coils of the bowel

He is not quite fat yet, but is getting there.

Over the last 6-7 months ive seen an array coming in from Sri Lanka and literally starving to death. They pick on rocks for a couple of days and just stop , then hang out and suddenly you will see them floating in the path of water flow and continue to weaken then missing.
I have tried 4 which were shipped but told eating and never did and they gave up. I really want one more BUT must be eating and not skinny. Prices on them are great- Just not eating which makes the price not so great.

Mine is tiny. Shorter than 2 inches. Just as long as my medium clownfish. The first three pictures, he started to have HLLE. This resolved. I hope he will follow the footstep of my other tang, and get fat. He is such a great worker. I am glad that I got hime to eat well and is getting fat. Hope he will have a long live in my tank.

So couple of questions. Has anyone kept a Fowleri and a naso together, when the Fowleri is the established resident?

2nd question is a blonde Naso really that much pretty then a large healthy regular naso?

Thanks the help.

Naso lituratus can be uglier than Naso elegans however most of it is personal preference. I personally prefer the Blonde Naso as I am blonde myself and just think of it as being blonde but in fish form haha.

can't answer the first question with the exact scenario- I have an established blonde naso and a dussumeiri added, they never even looked at each other so far as territory/aggression. I have numerous tangs and the only tang who's ever given half **** to the naso is the hippo blue tang.
So far as the blonde naso being prettier- I think that's all subjective to personal taste. I personally love the gold rim on the dorsal and anal fins, which the regular naso lacks.

While the blonde has great highlights, under the right light, the regular can show off some colors. This is when orpheks are at peak:

I’ve had a few fowleri over the years. I currently have an established folweri and introduced an Achilles hybrid last august. They flexed just once on each other and have been best buds ever since. That’s consistent in my experience with folweri living with other tangs. Nasos, obviously, are different tang but, considering tank size, fish size, hiding spots, flow, etc could certainly work.

Blonde naso are hands down prettier IMO. Few things can beat a full grown adult with streamers. That said, to really do right by that fish you need at least a 180gal.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I'm thinking will happen too. My folweri is pretty docile to every other tang I have in my tankz however he's the largest. My LFS has a beautiful regular naso that is about the same size as my folweri, hence the questions.

It's been eating like a pig and is completing four weeks of QT. In some sense I'd rather have a healthy, eating, large naso then waiting for a blonde that I'm not sure will be as healthy.

Also I plan on using a large acclimation box for a few days. I don't anticipate issues but I do have a large hippo and powder blue in addition to the folweri.

Don't worry its going in a custom 300 gallon, with plenty of space to swim.

i cant think

3 tangs + 1 kinda tang

Had to rehome the goldrim/pb hybrid recently though due to aggression towards the idol.

That powder blue hybrid is beautiful, I would’ve loved to take it if I had a 6’ tank and was in the US.
