Hey everyone! I also have the fluval evo 13.5 and im loving it so far. Been up for a couple months. I want to upgrade the lighting to the AI prime hd, i see alot of you doing different things with the lids which is nice because i really love my clown and dont want any jumpers! I am running the intank media basket with filter floss, nitrate pad, phos pad, rox 0.8 carbon and purigen. Im using the stock pump for now but considering upgrading, any opinions? I added a koralia nano 240 to the tank also.
here's what ive got going so far:

1 clown (cyrus)
4 hermit crabs
1 snail
1 acan with 3 heads
2 ricordea ( which have now grown to 5!)
1 mushroom
1 xenia ( small isolated frag)
1 daisy polyp ( small isolated frag)

want to add another fish, thinking a goby or a firefish maybe.

You can made your own using screen frame from home depot and get a clear mesh and clips from innovative marine from Amazon. There are cleaner flagged joints that lets the lide sit below the rim. BRS will also sell you a kit for $30.

Replacement pump wise, consider the Hydor 300. You'll need to get new vinyl tubing with 1/2" inner diameter and using the included nozzle adapter.

Lemme know if you have any other questions

The Sicce 1.0 return pump fits with a little maneuvering and cutting tubing, adds significantly more flow and is easily adjusted. I've added random flow generators from Vivid Creative Aquatics (also available at BRS) on bigger tanks and really like the water distribution they provide - might want to consider getting one as well. Along with the Intank basket you'd have a great set up IMHO.

Was looking into that actually! Thank you for the suggestion, I've got it on my list :)

How did you get a lightning maroon clown and a what looks like snowflake clown to go not jut in the same tank but in a 13.5 gallon I thought maroons get too big and they are aggressive towards other clowns?

Maroons get nasty with age. The other clown is now a resident in the reef tank and the maroon has 2 BTA all to herself. She's grown considerably.

Clowns will host almost anything but not all of them will hop into a BTA. I have two pairs of lightnings in separate tanks. In one tank, each of the lightnings chose their own BTA, in another the male went into a BTA at first, then decided it preferred the return nozzle while the female is hangs at the far side of the tank... my ocellaris prefers the wall by the nozzle rather than the BTA.

You can try to introduce a smaller lightning about 1/3 of size as your current clown... no guarantee they will pair but that will at least reduce intial conflict...until the maroon ages..then you'll need to watch for aggressive and be prepared for a new home for one of them

Here is mine, I have started 25 of January this year. What I have upgraded are lights which is AI prime HD, return pump which is some Chinese small 240 g/h pump. I have removed stock cover and made new one with Red Sea DIY net cover.
I am going to put Sicce Nano Voyager wave maker for flow and return back stock return pump because with 240 g/h return pump flow in filter chambers are too high. For filtration I am running Fluval skimmer which I like very much and stock mechanical filtering, but I am going to put Brightwell aquatics Xport Bio Plate instead and continue to use activated Carbon.
Also I am changing water 10 liters each week.
I will appreciate comments about lights because as I feel everyone is good in tank besides my 2 Euphyllias especially my hammer, for this I am attaching lights diagrams that I run.

Are you guys using the net/screen tops? I was thinking about having a local glass shop cut me some glass to cover the main tank, and i'd silicone or glue strips of acrylic to make a 'lip' which sits into the inside lip of the glass.

I also have some 1/4" acrylic left over from some previous projects that i've thought about cutting to cover the tank top, but using the rimless top hangars to hold the acrylic up. One annoyance I can foresee is feeding the tank with a glass top [or screen even]

The acrylic may become clouded quickly and may bend with the light heating it up most of the day. I could drill holes and use a hinge to make a feeding door with acrylic though.

Also thinking about making my own InTank media basket clone using my leftover acrylic. Does anyone else have any experience doing this, or know of someone who's done it?

Where does everyone put there added circulation pump?

I have mine on the opposite end of where the return pump is pointing towards the overflow portion.

Anyone have a better place to put a circulation pump?
