So, I bought a monster for ridiculously cheap.

72 x 36 x 27 and all 3/4" glass.

Comes out to be 303gal.

The seals are still good...it holds water but hasn't been running in over 2 years. I want peace of mind, so im gonna reseal everything.

A razor isn't working so well and doesn't slice straight.

Suggestions?

I personally have resealed a number of tanks by scrapping out the old silicon, and applying new. The largest was a 125. However, I’ve since learned from other more knowledgeable R2R members that this is ill advised. Many here will say the only safe way to redo a tank is to completely disassemble all the glass panels, remove all the old silicon, and completely rebuild the tank.

That said, if you need to remove the old silicon, a caulk remover like this one should help:

It can in general be a very difficult job to get the old silicon out.

Good luck!

Perfect. Thank you. I just happened to stumble upon a very similar tool, on Walmarts website. Ace is closer though...to the store I go!
