I think I have said this before, but every time somebody types Lt. Tang I hear LT Dan in my head in Tom Hank's Forrest Gump voice. Is that a bad thing? No rash fortunately.

I want to see this!

I'll try to find out what happened to it. Maybe 25,000 words was just a bit too much for even the most obsessed of reefers LOL.

I recently replaced two Kessil 360W lights with the new 360X. Not a huge difference, but the new ones dim down much better than the old ones did. Here's a sense of the last two minutes of the day …..

Hey Simon, just finished reading your entire build thread and my sides are sore from all the chuckling and snorting! Is that a green montipora spongodes in the right front corner of your tank? If not what species is it? I have one about 6 inches in diameter and I like the very unusual growth pattern, it really stands out amongst (thought you might appreciate that one) my budding acros. Gorgeous tank by the way, and your fish? No words.
On a different note I have 5 tangs, the largest is a lieutenant tang almost 7 inches long and very fat, the biggest pig in the tank, but he is also the sweetest and is the tank peacekeeper. Very underrated in the tang world in my opinion. The combination of grey, orange/red, and electric blue is very striking and as McPuff said when he's excited and turns almost black he's beautiful. And his tail is like a lyretail but with a double point on top and bottom, very unique and hard to describe. Oh and your Achilles is, well let's just say I'm still drooling.

Yes, spongodes. Common, I know; but still one of my favorites. Only issue I have are those &*$#&* green hairy mushrooms next to it. Friend of mine is a geneticist (and aquarist) and I keep asking him if he can design me a fish that will eat them LOL. Tangs are my favorite fish group. I probably have too many, even for a 450. I’m already cooking up plans for a much larger tank as I’d like to keep a Naso Unicornis.

Looking forward to reading the thread on that one! I'm planning a new build myself in the next 6 months to a year, about 350 gallons or so. I want more tangs.. and angels, and corals... it's an addictive hobby!

I did not miss new videos of the sump room have I?

No, no new sump room video - nothing's really changed. Well, other than replacing the ATS, adding a bigger UV and considering a bigger skimmer ….. otherwise nothing's changed LOL.

Yeah ….. too many. Rather puts the lie to LED being more economical. It's 4 radions and 5 kessils. The problem is that as colonies grow, shading becomes problematic; thus more point sources required.

Yeah, totally understand. I've got 9 units over my 300.

Simon, all I can say is WOW! The tank looks great. It’s come a long way from when I last saw it set up in the garage while you were mocking up the plumbing. Very nice!

Couldn't resist buying this bad boy off ebay. I guess I'm going to have a bigger skimmer ….

Converted it to a recirculating unit; got supplies ordered to make it taller by 24".
