Single pipe overflow and return all in one very noisy

Dose anyone have this design with the overflow and return in one fixing
So the return runs up the middle of the overflow
Anyone no how to get rid of the running water spound

Maybe a picture of the area of the tank would give folks an idea?
 
From you description, it sounds like you have a overflow box with a single drain and a return pipe?
If that's the case google herbie drain and convert the return line to a drain and plumb the return as a over the back return.
 
Yeah, put the pic in from the other thread. And I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and tag @ScottR. Not sure if this type of setup is used in Hong Kong or not though.

No, it's the Asian style setup where the return and drain is a small return pipe within a larger diameter drain pipe.
 
Yes that is the one
In the very center is the return pip with a small pvc pipe around that and then the larger pipe around that
I believe the noise is coming from it running into the smaller drain pipe around the return
 
Seems like if you could reduce flow a bit, maybe it would quiet things down? Is it a stock return pump or adjustable perhaps?
