Hello all! Looking for some advice. We have a 40 gallon tank with two clowns, a chalk bass, a purple fire fish, a diamond goby, a cleaner shrimp, and a six line wrasse. Our wrasse is constantly nipping and chasing all our other fish and we are pretty sure he bullied one of our fish we lost last week. We are going to rehome him but looking for advice on how to trap or net him the best way? TIA!

I remember having to pull every. Single. Rock. When my six-line decided he was king of the tank…

You might be able to catch it in a fish trap if you’re lucky! — they are smart enough to know that you’re out to get them if you fail to net them once!

Fantastic! lol he seems that he would be too smart. He already waits until my clowns to separate for a second before he attacks one of them.

In hindsight, I should have just used one of these style of squirt guns to slurp the little monster up out of the tank!

drain most of the water. I use tank dividers to build a barricade around their hiding spot, then start removing rocks.

How long has the 6-line been in?
When did bullying start?
Is it 100% constant?
In terms of add, is he new?

He’s not new. We have had him for about 2 months now. Was getting along peacefully with the others but then just decided to choose violence I guess. Now we have to constantly watch him bc he is terrorizing all of our other fish.

He’s wedged in a rock crevice! — dunk each rock repeatedly in a bucket of tank water until he shows up in the bucket!

And check the floor to see if he jumped out of his hiding spot prematurely!

… any updates on the disappearing devil fish?
Unfortunately we have not found him. Took out all the rock scape, looked in all the hidey holes and he is no where to be found. We have fed the tank twice and he still hasn’t been seen.

Hmm… he may still be in hiding, now that he knows he’s on the naughty list! — try spying on the tank from around a corner; he may be making himself scarce any time someone walks into the room now!

This is how I catch my 6 line….

You can forget about catching them during the day, smartest fish I’ve ever seen! BUT, at night is where they are weak….
She likes to sleep in the corners of my barebottom sometimes. Moves spots every now and then and sometimes just nuzzles up against my dragon breath tree. Come check out the tank at night at 2-3am and sometimes you’ll catch it sleeping in the corners. Take a flashlight and blind the sucker right in the eye followed by a quick net swoop. Works for a lot esp for 6 line wrasses. When they sleep they arw super vulnerable if we can see them.

I believe you could also Scoop up that wrasse at night with the FishScooper since it will also be clear so not as noticeable as a net would be. What do you think?

Never heard of it before but I’ll have to look into it!

He’s still in hiding so as long as he does, he can stay. As long as he doesn’t bully my other fish lol
