Sketchup Component: eggcrate whoa's!!

so i drawing up a new sump and want to add some eggcrate to it but the eggcrate component it a full size one 4'x2' and only a small section will be used.. i've tried to edit delete it but cant.. can someone point me in the correct direction.. i googled around but cant find anything..

I can't remember if sketchup has it, but you would want to use a slice plane to trim it down to size. This will allow you to select and delete the entire area beyond the slice, while keeping the rest intact.

i found something called section plane which is kewl but not exactly what i need.. because its cutting away (sectioning) some of the sump..
