Ron Shimek published one years ago during his tirade that IO was killing reef tanks with excessive trace elements. Read it with that understanding in mind.
Do you have a question about it? The major seawater elements will reflect tank levels, and some trace elements bind to organics and will be removed that way. Whole bacteria and other microorganisms are also removed, so anything in them can be detected.
