looking To change my skimmer. I have a 70 cube with a 40 frag tank in line and twenty gallon sump. its sps dominated with a heavy bioload. Currently running a custom atb elegance pro. Overkill yes but I couldn't resist the deal. The size of the skimmer makes it hard to get to anything in my sump. What would you recommend I change too. Going to move the atbTo my fish breeding setup. One prerequisite is that it must be quiet. Its in my tv room and I hate noise. Sold my vortechs because they were to loud to give you an example. Any help would be appreciated.
The Sea side aquatics cs1 is really nice for that size tank. And quiet too.Has an added pad under the pump too. No vibration. really quiet.

I have an 65gal frag tank with 65gal aquarium I use as my sump, sump has no partition, just sock on one side, AquaC 120 skimmer, live rock, cheato, and return pump at the other end, with about 20 gal of water in it.
1) is the AquaC 120v okay?
2) I have the air valve all the way on on the skimmer, but it doesn't seem to be bubbling over the top of the skimmer and collecting the dirty stuff. It use to but not lately. Parameters are good, but been getting algae. I think it's because the the rodi filters need changing, should be here today. Questions is, why doesn't my skimmer blow bubbles? to get enough bubbles to reach to top? Is it my water to clean? What makes the bubbles bubble over to the top into the collection cup? Okay, how do I make bigger bubbles?
I have an 500gph pump on it. If the water is to clean, will it create the bubbles? I have 2 small tangs and an damsel, no sand, barebottom.
you have a pretty small load but you would adjust the gate valve on the output closed to get the bubbles to move up. You actually do not want big bubbles. smaller is better.

Selection help

Hi all, first post here. I need some help selecting a skimmer. I have a 175 gallon reef tank and a 35 gallon sump. My skimmer area is 14 1/2" x 10 1/2". I can run the skimmer in a maximum depth of 9" of water. I currently have a aqua c ev180. I would like
To upgrade to a more efficient and near silent skimmer. I am not really working with a budget because I know good things cost. Any advice would be great. Thanks so much for your help.

The bk mini gen 2 200 would be great. THe Aquamaxx am 250 would be another choice for less money. THe Sro 3000sss would be one of the best for your buck units though...So either way you go those would probably be my top 3.

Hello. I'm sure some where in this 64 page thread there is a recommendation for a skimmer for a JBJ 28gal Nano Cube. I was wondering what that recommendation would be? Right now I have the one made for the tank but it needs to be replaced. I have to take the cup off anytime I want to open the hood all the way. Any advice would be appreciated on this. Thanks.

Maybe I née d a new pump but it's noisy as all get out. Been running for 2 days and am not impressed with the performance at all. Going to contact who I bough it from but it sounds way too loud for my liking

Well took the pump apart and that helped a little bit but still not satisfied with it. Going to call SoCal and see what they can do for me.
Big thumbs down on the cs1 :sure:

thats odd. its the same pump as the octo xs 160 and the same kind of pump on the 200, avast cs1, atb 840 ext...

The sicce pumps now are really great.

I would give them a call. The sicce psk 600 is also basically the same pump as the tunze hydrofoamer 9410. its a different color and different venturi. I would email them for sure. It is a great skimmer for sure.

Can't speak for mojo but those were good skimmers 3-4 years ago but there are more efficient skimmers now. A mag 18 consumes 145 watts plus puts out heat in the tank.

I am looking to over skim if possible and can't afford to spend a lot on one so what do you recommend. I have coralife 125 on my 75 right now it does ok. I had a seaclone and it is my pugs chew toy now. any input is welcomed.

Mojo and others. I currently have a SWC 160 cone on my 125 gallon with 30 sump. Lighter bioload and newer tank (3-4 months) fish Kole Tang, one clown, chromis, bi-color blenny, small hogfish/wrasse that I never see.

Anyway I am having a hard time getting my SWC to produce anything more than a dirty neck and tea colored skimmate. It also never starts up going forward without blowing into the airline, even though I have one of Lukes impellers.

Looking at the Seaside Aquatics CS-1. I like the fact it is for the most part a hydrofoamer pump and it similiar to a NAC7 which I had on my 75 gallon and loved it but it was noisy.

If I get a new skimmer should I get a CS-1 or CS-2?
Is the CS-2 the same quality as the CS-1 and as quiet?
I plan on adding a few more fish in the future (another clown, maybe hawk fish or wrasse, goby etc) nothing big like Tangs. I also like LPS and softies more than SPS.
