Hey guys looking for a good skimmer for an innovative marine nuvo fusion 15 aio. I got the innovative marine nuvoskim pro desktop cause it was the matching skimmer but after 2 weeks of breaking the micro bubbles are insane to the point of giant patches of air under all my rocks.

Looking for suggestions on either a how to get this thing to work properly or b a better skimmer. I know there's a lot of opinions on skimmers in a nano but the main reason I want to run one is co2 scrubbing.

Without a co2 scrubber my phone tops around 7.8 so I use the skimmer and scrubber to pull it back up/just over 8.

Not familiar with your set up, but microbubbles and skimmers are a real thing. People find places to put sponges or other materials (filter socks, filter floss) on the downstream flow path to sequester the bubbles before they flow into the display.

Personally, I would not worry about a skimmer or elevating pH in a 15g especially if it’s softies and lps. Less is more sometimes on small tanks

I was running a bubble magus on mine (I just moved it to my 20 gal as I got a Aquamaxx 1.5 hob

I’ll find the bubble magus model but it didn’t give me any micro bubbles after a few days and pulled out some nasty stuff. Size matters and the Aquamaxx is pulling out insanely dark liquid and it’s only been 2 days

Oh wow the bubble magus one is like 1/2 price from when I bought it a few years go

I run the aqua maxx Hob 1.5 rn but also still use the bubble on my drop off 20gal. I’ll try to take a better pic of the skim

I will say the bubble magus container was a a bit opaque so slim does look darker from the outside. However on the aquaMaxx you can see the color on the tube. Recommend either except waiting on my Aqua to chill on the micros before I add a sponge or something to it. Could consider the “cone” skimmer by AquaReady

I run a Bubble Magus on all my Nanos. I have tried Tunze, and IM. The Bubble Magus fits, works well for me, great price and easy to clean.

I can't comment on a replacement skimmer, but I do have a larger IM tank (SR80), and was also having a major micro bubble blizzard in my display. I added a piece of coarse sponge to either side of the skimmer and this eliminated the bubbles almost completely. Might be worth trying to block between the skimmer and your return with sponge or other filter media and see if that helps.

The 9001 was great too, I found the BM to have a darker skim vs my tunze. My tunze was a tea colored skim while my bm one is 2x darker like an iced coffee. Might be worth a shot and 1/2 the price of a 9001. I had to also modify the 9001 to fit into my 10gal and lagoon bcs of the magnet placement. (Don’t know if they updated it or not but this was a few years ago before it died on me)
