Sky rocketed PH

Ok, I can see how that could boost room CO2 but ordinary aeration can also limit pH rise. :)
So, if I add like a half dozen bubblers to my sump and put a industrial (farm like) air pump tied to a outlet that runs on when PH hits 8.6, this will effectively act as a break until I can review the situation? Is there anything I can do, like taking the intake of that air pump and having it draw air through something that will aid decreasing PH?

I would just use the CO2 tank and bubbler you have on-hand! — run the tank solenoid off a PH controller!

It’s a bag of mycelium spores in an organic substrate!

when activated; the mycelium grows, consuming the substrate, and releasing CO2!

Yes, and I was actually quite sceptical if one bag would make any difference - but based on (one) one week experiment seems to work. Last time on a vacation I tried switching skimmer on during the day, during the night, during 24h without considerable effect once the pH was already too high. I'm still away for another week, and will see if the pH will stay at a reasonable level :)

I also have a Mastertronic, Dosetronic, and Alktronic Pro. Top of the list as the worst, most expensive reefing equipment I have purchased. The Mastertronic always has an air leak in a dosing pump or syringe, the Alktronic killed my tank, and now won’t hold an accurate reading. I want to sell them and buy something else but it doesn't feel right passing on the problems to someone else. I also don’t know of an accurate phosphate tester as all I hear is bad things about the Trident NP phosphate accuracy.

@fushi you want to talk about Focustronic crap.. I’m so freaking fed up with this junk. Here is my week with my MT…

Then I get home from work and this… the carousel must have been spinning for 16 hours…

Dang , my mastertronic is rusty too, but the spinning thing is crazy.
My mastertronic is also down. For some reason, it likes to fry sd cards, and I haven’t gotten around to taking it apart, contacting support, and setting up a new sd card.

@fushi

My Alkatronic is dead, total boat anchor. I purchased it last year when BRS had that crazy sale. I bought all 3 items (Alk, MT and DT). I was in the middle of my big. Build and didn’t put them online for 7 months (I’m very patient and stock pile gear for a build). That was my second mistake. I ran 1.5L of reagent through my Alkatronic and it never would give a PH reading, I didn’t think that mattered. Long story short. Warranty is only from date of purchase not when you put it in service (they know when the unit comes online. I have had Communication with everyone there). So, Andrew Redmen (Service) and I spent 6-7 hours over 3 months trying to correct it. I had to buy an SD card, and a new circuit board for the PH unit. Nothing worked. Come to find out, you CANNOT use the Alkatronic app to run the machine. Andrew writes the instruction manuals, and is a volunteer, not paid. Well, my unit’s paper instructions did not have the call out that you can only use the Focustronic app and not the explanation that you only use the Alkatronic app for the unit to make initial connection. The app corrupted my SD and they were never able to figure it out. So I have spare parts to a unit that will never turn on again. They admits I have a lemon but because the unit is past the 1 year purchase date, I am SOL. It’s funny, if you search the Facebook post where Salem did the auto tester test off, you can see me with the first comment poking Eric Wang and then out of no where he replied (turns out he was sponsoring that segment with a free unit). So that is where he put Andrew on my case, but refuses to do anything with my unit or the $150 in spare parts is had to buy that are now momentos. Oh, that first mistake… Was buying anything Focustronic.

Agreed, they had the potential to be a great company with great products but have done a terrible job with everything from safety and reliability to basic customer service. Instead of focusing on making a good product, they chose to just throw out a bunch of half-baked products out and blame their customers for the numerous product failures. Notably failures they promised could never happen.
