so the other day i bought some macro algae and i drained the water out and ripped the chunk in half to put some in my gf's tank and everything was fine and when i was washing my hands i noticed slashes on a few of my fingers and had no clue how i got them..

i think i found what cut me but i dont even know what it is or if it could of even sliced my skin??

Yeah those guys can definitely scrape you up a bit. Also the feathery thing is a type of Caulerpa which if leave alone can grow out of control. Here is a helpful link about it...

+1 on the caulerpa ....

yah i had a similar situation when cleaning one of my heaters, i thought the glass might have been chipped or something but never found anything other than those things on it and i was cleaning bare handed.

well i did move all my girl's rock work to my tank along with the coral for my bryopsis treatment... maybe they were all over her rocks..
thanks for the help guys
