so the other day i bought some macro algae and i drained the water out and ripped the chunk in half to put some in my gf's tank and everything was fine and when i was washing my hands i noticed slashes on a few of my fingers and had no clue how i got them..

i think i found what cut me but i dont even know what it is or if it could of even sliced my skin??

could always be the tiny shards from the tiny calcareous feather dusters that settled on the cheato... hmmmm don't know other than that

what is that spikey feathery thing in the picture is that part of the chaeto?

Yeah those guys can definitely scrape you up a bit. Also the feathery thing is a type of Caulerpa which if leave alone can grow out of control. Here is a helpful link about it...

+1 on the caulerpa ....

yah i had a similar situation when cleaning one of my heaters, i thought the glass might have been chipped or something but never found anything other than those things on it and i was cleaning bare handed.

well i did move all my girl's rock work to my tank along with the coral for my bryopsis treatment... maybe they were all over her rocks..
