I picked up a pyramid butterfly and a skunk tilefish at my LFS earlier - both seem extremely peaceful with no aggression, and are in my QT tank now. The pyramid butterfly just arrived from the supplier on Friday, and wasn't eating yet at my LFS, but I got it started on some reef frenzy (soaked in garlic guard and selcon). Will be starting copper in the next few days once it's settled in.

I noticed it has a small spot on each side - could it be an injury from catching/shipping or bacterial infection? It seems faded and not recent. I'm in Canada, so the best I could dose now is General Cure. Thank you!

I don't see those spots as being anything serious (yet). This species almost always arrive with Neobenedenia flukes, so after the copper treatment, you'll want to run a course of praziquantel.

Be sure the tank is tightly covered to keep the tilefish from jumping out.

I see what looks like a nick or small injury and can be from netting or even object in the tank as they spook easily. Assure it is healing and not becoming red or sore

Sounds good, thank you both. I do plan to follow up with General Cure after copper, so we should be covered there.
Definitely good point about the lid - I triple check each time after I uncover it. The tilefish is extremely observant, I see it sticking its head out all the time looking for that one gap. So far my absolute favorite fish, it's extremely friendly and rather curious about everything I do, haha.

I do not think you're covered with general cure (you are covered for flukes) - the metronidazole is not good for bacterial infections - I'm not exactly sure why it's included with Praziquantel. Actually - I partially take that back, it is a good antibiotic for anaerobic bacteria, and additionally, some parasites - but not bacterial infections on the skin - which usually requires more gram negative coverage.

Sorry, I meant using it for the possible flukes as mentioned earlier. I don't have anything for bacterial infections on hand, unfortunately. Even GC was a pain to get in Canada.

For now, I'll keep an eye on it, and if it gets worse, I'll see if any local vet or another reefer can help.
