Own an old tank that I inherited Had huge issues with hair algae. It took me months to eradicate. That was 5 years ago. Once that was done small snails emerged and have ben there for some time They get algae growing on them. I was just pulling it off of them. I did not want to knock them off in fear of another infestation.
The question is are they beneficial or just get ride of them

Agreed, collonista snails. I can tell these from a mile away as they very often have the 'urge to merge' in two's, three's and occasionally four's.

Mine never get algae growing on them. Indicates to me that you very likely have a higher nutrient system.

So this is the best I can do. I used two products to try and get rid of the algae the coral shrunk all up not happy. Also watching BRS videos and saw that they clean the sand. I was told never

You can clean sand, people say dumb stuff all the time. Now what you don’t want is to stir up a bunch of settled material and fling it all over the tank. Just use a gravel vac, that’s what they are for.

There are a lot of mixed reactions as to what you have in tank

Are you able to remove about 6 of them and place into container under white light or lamp and post a couple of pics?

Having an abundance of snails is not a bad thing for housekeeping however my concern is the possibility of so many getting into your plumbing and pumps.
As for sand....... clean one half of the sand using siphon in a zig zag pattern stabbing at an angle- Not stirring it. Following week or two, do the other half

I zoomed in on the photo ~3x and I do see a lot of limpets and what looks like a few round collunistas. That's the same mix that an older tank of mine used to have (just more collunistas than limpets in that one).

Thanks for the answer. I will get better photos later today. Again though they have hair algae on them, After I tried using the media and chemical the corals shrunk actually killed one and algae still there, What a complete failure, Now some on the rock which is a real problem, Frustrating went backwards
