(Sponge)? ID

I have this in a few places, I think it's sponge but I only recently am seeing these things sticking out from it.....maybe not getting enough light? Not sponge? TIA

It's a sponge. That's how that species grows. You'll see a lot more if "spikes" or "fingers" as it continues to grow. They don't need any light at all.
 
FYI, see you have a beautiful little sinularia behind that nice open brain. As the sinularia grows it becomes very noxious to lps. Once mine got larger, I could not put any brains within about 12 inches of it. I am talking, mine was well over 12"high and wide. Just a thought in case you see any issues on the brain.

On the sponge, I have them all over. No idea on genus though.

Thanks but I haven't seen that....I used to have a huge sinularia.....about 16" the trunk was about 8" in diameter and I never had such issues.....I've heard they can cause trouble for SPS though....

My other types did nothing bad, but my neon green one did. Not sure why. Glad to hear you have not had issues.

Probably available food. I had one I swear didn't grow in a couple of years, then *POOF*, it was a monster. When he got too big, I just peeled some off and removed it.
