Sponges growing on coral

2 types of sponges are growing on and killing my green star polyps.

how do i get rid of them?
 
From what I’ve heard with sponges, manual removal is generally necessary/the way to go. If anyone has a better idea (particularly since they’re overgrowing your coral), hopefully they’ll chime in.
