Looking for help/ ideas
A few weeks ago a purple stylo had retracted polyps, now it’s spread to almost all sps. Parameters are ok
pH is 8.0
kH is 8.9
Ca+ is 430
Mg is 1301
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
Phosphate.12
Was running UV 24/7. Now it is off
Was running Refugium 24/7 now just 10 hours a day
Turbos are belly up, but shrimp, bumblebee, conch, star astrea all fine
LPs is a little smaller but ok
Zoas are playing peek-a-boo. Normally they are always out.
Can’t see red bugs with magnifier.

Check for acropora eating flatworms. My acros looked very similar to that when I was dealing with the issue.

I put an acro in RO/DI (knowing it would kill it) and I saw a lot of flatworms come out which officially diagnosed the issue for me.

Kill the acros or the flatworms? Normally I do a freshwater dip on my LPS while acclimating them

I don’t know if freshwater dips will kill acros or not. I didn’t care because I was going to sacrifice that piece anyway. I wanted a clear dip to identify the worms.

Someone said RO/DI will kill acros. So I’m just giving a disclaimer that I used that dip knowing I would throw that acro out anyway.

Can you dip this one to get a clear identification first? You can use coralRX in saltwater, and it won’t kill the coral.

I’m generally a fan of diagnosing issues prior to using cures to theoretical problems. Maybe you don’t even have flatworms?

To answer your question, some wrasses can eat the flatworms. You will need to baste the corals regularly to release the worms to make the process more efficient.

But why did all the turbos die at once?
Will start a dip asap
Could be a red herring…or maybe it’s related; I don’t know. This is why we need to diagnose the issue before finding solutions to it.
