What do you guy think? Will my Female Squareback Anthias allow any more Anthias in her tank? The tank will be a 225, Im in the middle of my upgrade now. Please share any experience you have with Squarebacks. Thanks

I'm assuming by square back you mean Pseudanthias pleurotaenia... if so I would consider pairing it up! The males are gorgeous. Be careful with other real small fish, as once larger they're more like a grouper than an anthias.

Yes, I thought about pairing her, males are beautiful fish. She chases my wrasses but she's all bluff. Im wondering if they would allow other species of Anthias in the same tank? Never can get much info on Pleurotaenia, seems not many keep them.

Yep, more anthias would be fine. I would maybe consider using an acclimation box and letting her observe new comers for a day or two.

Todd, thanks for the reply. I use an acclimation box for all new fish, so that shouldn't be a problem. If anyone has any picks of theirs please post em up.

Not sure if you're still on the fence, but I just picked up a group (4) of them. 3F + 1M. 3 hours in the tank and the females ate. 9 hours in and the male is eating. :)

The males are really gorgeous, but the females even more plain than lyretails. I think with time the females will get better looking.

Todd, my female is one of my favorite fish. They developed a lavender color on their fins that's really cool. I'm thinking about adding three smaller females with her to see if I can watch her change to male.

Do you think she might be displaying more vibrant colors Bc she is starting to change to male without the presence of a terminal male?

I don't see why it wouldn't be okay.. especially in a 225. Having a pair would be real nice.. post pics!

Do it. I love anthias interaction, they're a completely different fish (in a good way) from when they are by themselves.

I don't have a pic at this point but I have a pair of Block (Squareback) Anthias. The male is incredible looking. They swim around together a lot as well which is nice. I also have 3 Sunburst Anthias in the tank with them and there is zero aggression. Granted I have a larger tank (250g) with lots of room to swim and I feed a few times a day. That always helps with Anthias. I hope to take some pics over the weekend and I'll see if I can get a pic of the male and female together.

Squarebacks are great looking fish. The sky's the limit with this new tank of yours. Please post a build thread over here since some of us dont go to that other forum.
