I agree that if there was some kind of daily or weekly content that people would expect, that might encourage members to visit more often and participate.
Things like polls with subjects like what I would like to see from sponsors, what would cause me to buy from a sponsor, the reason I stopped buying from a sponsor (without identifying the sponsor), etc. This might be helpful to sponsors to understand what it would take to achieve more sales.
Polls about such things as which CR media do you use and why, what kind of wave maker do you like. etc.
It would take some coordinating among the R2R staff and somebody would have to be responsible for seeing that it was kept in place.
This site has the atmosphere and energy to become the premier reef site on the 'net. BUT, it won't happen automatically, somebody will have to keep the wheel turning.
Unfortunately, as the site becomes bigger it will become harder and harder to please everybody and harder to police. There will always be an occasional troublemaker. Usually they can be asked in a courteous manner to tone it down and they will oblige. Occasionally someone will have to be banned for the overall good of the rest of the community. As long as this is handled in a respectable manner, people will not be offended. It is when people are threatened, bullied, offended, and insulted that people begin to look elsewhere.
As I have said before, Rev and the other mods are running a class act here. Each one of us as an individual member can make a contribution through sharing our knowledge (and frags) with newcomers. I wish I had this kind of resource when I got started. At that time I had never seen the Internet!
