Stand slightly too small for tank?

I’m pondering a waterbox 25 upgrade from my current nano and wondering about the wisdom of using a UNS 60U stand that is just a bit too small. The tank measures 23.6” x 15.7”, while the stand is 24” by 14” inches. Could a piece of plywood on top bridge that gap?

Please post pic but sounds like it will be small , However you can place a sheet of plywood on top that matches the tank dimensions for full support

I probably wouldn't just float the tank over the back, eventhough it would more than likely be fine. I would support it with thick plywood. Or if you are inclined to, add a 2x4 frame to the back of the stand and recess it a bit so you don't see it easily. Thin sheet of plywood under the tank and you are set.

I own the stand and just measured it at 14.2”. So for the 15.7” waterbox ifs about 1.5” total width extra, or .75” per side. The waterbox 25 becomes extra attractive in the 20-30 gallon range as it’s the largest tank that could fit on the stand I own, saving a couple hundred and putting it ahead of other tanks.

My gut is also that some plywood to fully support would be enough to make it all work, was mostly curious if anyone had tried something similar.
