It should all be gone soon... my worst and darkest location have left root behind on mine. Where it killed it root and all is very clean, where it was in the darkest worst areas that root is beginning to grow a bit. I'm now doing a second dose to get rid of it 100%. So if in 21 days it isn't 100% gone, plan to dose once more.

This may have already been answered, but why no filter socks? I would think as the algae starts to die it would be good to remove it via the filter socks?
I am just lazy and havnt bleached my old socks to get them ready for the clean system! Haha! (Dont want to recontaminate my system with spores or pieces of algae that are trapped in the socks themselves.) But I think you are right about getting the old, dead algae out. I am starting to see some collection on the sand and in the bottom of the sump area. But my snails and others are gobbling it up!
I am planning on getting some mesh type socks just for this occasion so they are easier to clean out between uses.

I may go ahead and order another dose worth just to have it on hand.... How long did you wait after your first session was over? And how many water changes?

1 month in my case ( since I began with the first dose) and haven't done a water change yet . Mainly because I wanted to see if it would eventually affect chaeto in my sump. Which it does. There's a lot of people that don't do water changes so we now know that it does eventually break it down also. So I'm doing a water change and redosing the tank.

I wonder what percentage of the medication stays in suspension after the initial dose in a few days, weeks or even a month? Does it get used up as time goes by or are we dependent on water changes to remove it fully from our systems?

Day 9.... Beginning to really see a difference in the bright light areas and the darker shaded areas. The brighter areas are almost completely gone in most areas. The darker spots, not so much.
In fact it almost seems that the stuff in the dark areas and lower spots in the tank are growing? It may be the GHA taking off a bit since the bryopsis is taking a plunge. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
I may go ahead and start skimming in earnest tomorrow just to get some of the gunk out of the tank....

I think it just gets used up. At least the actual medication part of it does. The inert ingredients that they used to bind it is the part that I'm most concerned with. I do know that it will grow back if you don't get rid of 100% of it and I do mean the root. That's why I'm doing a second dose because some of the route that I had decided to grow back . It's very very minimal but I want to stop it before it actually becomes something. I think if we have nitrates more than we should have in our tank that that also affects it.

Day 11.... Starting to see some pretty good death of bryopsis (haha, good and death in the same sentence, you dont see that often in the hobby!) on the flat areas in the direct light. Also, like I said the other day, the GHA is really taking off.... Hopefully a little longer and the medication will start killing that off as well...

Day 13....
(Actually it is day 14, but I forgot to post yesterdays pics so here they are! I will post todays in a little bit once my daylights come on)
I started running the skimmer yesterday as well. I am skimming very dry. Not sure why, just sounds like a good idea in my head. I figure if it were to remove the medication from my system somehow that two weeks would be enough to do what it was going to do anyway.
Also, I have been running the reactors without any media just in case it would remove the medication.... Again, just to move the medication through them and kill any microscopic pieces or spores that may have been trapped in them. I could have just as easily removed them and sterilized them before returning them to service I suppose.

CUC getting into it now!

Still got it on the skeletons of some of the LPS. I think the algae was causing the flesh to recede because it is only like that on the skeletons with algae. I could be wrong though. But 95% of my euphyllia are nice and fleshed out down the skeletons.

I havnt cleaned the side glass yet, but couldnt take it on the front glass! Haha!

DAY 14... Officially 2 weeks now. Much of the algae has left the building! I am probably looking at a second round more than likely just because of the saturation of algae in my tank to begin with. I will let it run another week and see what happens before I decide anything. No water change until 21 days at any rate.....
