So all my jack o lanter lepto and chalice are undergoing STN

Temp: 78
NO3: 10 ppm
PO4: 0.25ppm
Ca: 525
Alk: 9.2
Mg: 1380

Its a recent thing just stated too, the lepto has been growing and so has the chalice although at a slower rate. My hammer, zoas and sticks are all doing fine. Any thoughts?

Ive tested the Ca many times, it was at 565 has sence droped to current levels, the BRS calculator failed me. Been having to dose half of what it says. My coals are also eating Mg like mad. Gonna do a water change once my SW is up to temp.

Have never had to dose alk. Haven't dosed Ca in like 3 weeks. Before it was using about 40 ppm every 3 days. Its currently using about 100 ppm Mg every 2 to 3 days

Just curius
No carbon dosing, vodka is for my belly not the fishes
LOL,
Good, One less thing to rule out :)
Same here. I have have an old reef and it doesn't like dosing. Keep my phos down with Rowaphos GFO tumbling in it's own reactor.

Tanks for sharing your build thread. You've done a great job. :)
Tampa Bay sent you some really nice rock too.
Your problem is really a guessing game for my knowledge.

Your nitrates are higher then mine but I don't think it's your issue.

If anyone can help you help it's Diesel.

Things happen can happen very fast in a nano.

I'm going to tag along and try to learn with you.

As I said before I'm throwing the blame on The high Po4 and high CAL in combination, not knowing what happen over the course of two weeks in swings.
Even though the light your running and your change from NSW to ASW can all have to do with it.
I'm not the only one but happen to see the thread but let me tag the squad in here for more eyes on it.
If you part of a team than only the team will share the results and not a sole member of it.

How are you dosing? You do know you need to dose alk and cal together. Once you start keeping SPS you need to regularly check Alk at least 3 times a week. As the corals are uptaking alk and cal to build their skeletons and this is a process that should never stop and as they grow they need more.
I dose cal and alk and mag plus trace elements 5 times a day to keep a constant amount in the water column.
Alk at 9.2 can cause issues if you do not have high nitrates and high phosphates. Best to keep it between 7 and 8 in most cases.

Alright, I went through your tank thread and noticed one big thing. Your tank is a baby still. Only 2 months old. Yes, while it cycled right away it's still not steady and you've put a lot of stuff in there quickly. My guess is that you are having some sort of swing at night like ph. You're dosing stuff during the day which brings your ph up, as the tank is using it the ph drops.

If you can try testing ph first thing in the morning, midday, and once before bed. I'd even say get a test in the middle of the night but that may be asking a lot.

Also, all of those are low light corals. What sort of lights do you have and how far from the lights are they?

Lighting is a current USA marine pro set to lighting program 1. They are positioned as low in the tank as i can get them. Could move then to a shaded area
