Hello!

I originally had a fluval 13.5 but converted my old set up into our old 55 gallon aquarium. My dad is currently taking care of it while I’m at college so it’s been difficult for everyone and we’ve decided to move our focus from corals to cool fish instead. There’s some random frags left that have survived throughout the year and some are doing great… others not so much.

We currently have:
1 Maroon x ocellaris clown hybrid (he’s super clown aggressive so he’ll be our only clown)
1 Watchman goby (super elusive and shy)
1 Aipstasia eating filefish
1 Tiger conch
Some various snails and hermit crabs

I’m not exactly sure how many more fish the tank can hold, it has a 75-100 gallon canister filter, 50-75 gallon skimmer, UV light filtration system, and we do 10-20% water changes weekly. Live sand and rocks covered in hair algae 🙄 and various soft and LPS corals. (We also have one montipora and one pavona)

To make things harder my dad is red-green color blind and doesn’t see pink well (he thinks anthias look white). I think he can see both colors respectively when they are separate but not together? I’m taking care of the tank until I leave again in 6 or so weeks and plan to do a bunch of flowy fast growing soft corals. I’m also looking to start to begin stocking the tank again. It’s been running for 1 year now but I’m having trouble finding A. fish he likes that B. actually fit in our tank. I’m not too picky but would like some ideas besides the basic clownfish, chromis, + goby set up. Our clown occasionally fin nips “regular” shaped fish but ADORES goby/blenny shaped fish. Everyone else is pretty chill with other tank mates.

- I want to get a pistol shrimp for the watchman + skunk cleaner since it’s a fan favorite as long as they won’t bug each other.
- My dad doesn’t want any chromis or bangaii cardinals ( but I love em ) he really likes the looks of flasher wrasses, coral beauty , and other uniquely shaped / bright fish
- I like wrasses, cardinals, Midas blenny , small puffers , and just funny looking/bright colored fish. Mostly looking for at least one fish that’s a bit more active than our others. (Our tank literally looks empty most of the day)

- To summarize: looking for bright colored or unique suggestions that are at least moderately peaceful/reef safe or a list of fish (or inverts etc) that will compliment each other and make the tank look more full and fit in a 55 gallon that are preferably hardy.
