I have a great Lfs and all they carry is Fritz RPM and I like to support them as much as possible. My alk runs at 9.8. My zoa garden doesn’t seem to be affected by alk. But to be honest this is the first time I’ve thought about it.
Well, actually all my other zoas ie purple space monsters, Caribbean ultras are ok with the higher all of 9dKh. It’s just the candy apple zoas, not sure why but it became umbrella shaped after the alk was slowly raised to around 9.

Could be coincidence or not, can you send a pic? I have about 17 different zoas on my island and over the years some go crazy and I have had some, for no reason I can think of just melt. I’ve tried fruit loops twice well over a year apart, same result. There is a thread on here that discusses this very topic with a goal to determine why most flourish while some don’t.

Here’s a picture of what happened. It’s recovered since lowering all

I do truly love them! The owner of my LFS tried to talk me into it when I was admiring one, claiming they have a small biological load. You may have pushed me over the limit. Who knows, I might be walking out with one next time I see one. I’ll keep you posted.

They are not shy and hidden at all. Mine swims openly with my clown.

I was just reading about them. I wonder if they would get along with my Diamond Goby. He's always rearranging the sand!
Maybe. I have known people that have done it. He's not really a sifter, more of an opportunistic shelter seeker.

Now you have gone and done it! If I was ever in AA I wouldn’t want you as my sponsor, you would take me out for a drink after every meeting.

Btw...what you read about them isn't true. They eat everything, but they are not (ime) algae eaters except for a little film algae on the glass. Leave a little patch dirty for him. You'll see kiss marks in it. Mine always eat whatever, but I start with frozen mysis. They do better if you leave the flow on to feed too. They also love barnacles to sleep in. I'll gladly be your sponsor LOL!

They fed it flake at the lfs, it’s a little piggy. I thought it would be hiding for a few days but it is out and about and the other fish are just leaving it alone. Seems to like my gsp.
