Strange bubble-like growth on WWC grafted monti. Any idea why this is happening?

Interesting. Any chance it’s bubble algae and the monti grew over it?

check out this sponge-like growth underneath? I'm not sure if its actually a sponge, but this is my best guess as a cause.

Began appearing in Feb of last year. Heres how it looked at the time.

It honestly looks like your montipora is starting to “bounce” like a mushroom. It can happen to any coral, I’ve seen it happen on chalices and echinatas. They believe the bounces are just benign tumors.
