Today I went down to my local aquarium store and got a medium sized rock that had some sunflower coral on it. I put the rock in the tank and then I noticed this strange thing coming out of the rock. Does anyone know what this might be? I think it’s a worm of some Kind.

I believe you have a Eupolymnia crassicornis, or more commonly called spaghetti worm

Thanks again! I wasn’t sure if it was a barnacle or a bobbit worm. The prismatic coloration of the bristles for me worried for a second.
Is the coral new to your tank? He’s in need of some spot feeding

Not sure if it’s a barnacle due to the irregularity of the “legs” and the lack of discernible sensory hairs on said legs. @Something’s_Fishyy, are you able to capture more photos?
They can look like that once beaten down a little although more openings are always a good thing :)

I’d be more concerned about the starving coral, tbh.

Just picked it up today for a cheap price. We got it for 20$ instead of 60+ because of that reason. I’m trying to restore it best I can. Some polyps are beginning to come back but there’s a lot of work to be done.

Yeah we just got it today. The store I got it from sold it to me for 20 bucks because it wasn’t doing so good. I’m working on restoring it and feeding it daily.
That’s a really good move from you, hope it all goes well, sun corals are amazing :)
