I was toying with a idea to stop feeding the coral food and substituting with dosing large amount of DIY Phytoplankton?

What are your opinion on it?

Will it work?

I think it might depend on what you feed the tank as well.

i'm thinking solely phytoplankton, of course in large amount, maybe 2 Litre (0.5 gallon+-) every week (for a 250 gallon tank)
wouldn't it depend on the necessary diet of a particular coral, beyond photosynthesis - mouth size.
Small mouth corals will like phyto, but larger mouth LPS might not utilize phyto?
