As title indicates, building a new system (two nano 30gal tanks plumbed into one sump, but that's a topic for another day) and planning to incorporate a Clarisea SK-3000 automat filtration. Basically, as I understand it from the instructions and videos, water enters the filter and exits through the roller mat. Next compartment (or same?) will house a skimmer. Apart from allowing for alternative filtration media in case of equipment failure, I'd appreciate hearing from any current users of the Clarisea system regarding best sump design. Thanks!

You can take a look at designs that use filter socks and replace the socks with a roller. IMO the emergency drain should flow free vice going through a filter. Also, you want the clarisea as far out of the water as you can to make the best use of the filter material.
