How many hours a day should my sump light be on?

My display light is 2pm till 10pm

I turn my sump light on 1 hour before display lights turn off and 1 hour after display lights turn on You don’t need to have an expensive refuge light, a simple 100 watt grow light with reflecting dome at Lowe’s for about $20.00. The set up comes with a spring clamp to attach to the sump.

Right now mine is on 23 hours a day to promote algae growth in the fuge.
