Sump pump size question ?? Issues

So I have a pro clear 90 gallon tank (65 display )

I have a simplicity 3200dc pump (2100gpm) is this to big for my tank ? Seems to be pulling water quicker then I can return it to tank causing pump to suck air in the sump.

I took the spiral out and going to add more water to tank maybe it’s not high enough I’m about 3/4 to 1 inch from bottom of slits in the highest part of back of tank that drains so hopefully that’s it.

Sorry I’m a noob so any info helps
 
what spiral? you can add a gate valve , but i would add more salt water first to find the right level. pictures are worth 1000 words in this scenario also

The spiral is in the line that goes to sump suppose to make the drain quieter
 
This was recommended by the company I bought it from hopefully they will allow me to return it and get a smaller one
 
Cant really find the flow rates for each speed setting for your pump, but I highly doubt even at the lowest speed its still too much for the pumping. Pictures would help understand your situation

With it on lowest setting and sump full it’s doing fine I guess my noob self just didn’t understand how full the sump needed to be .

How do you tune it so you know it’s on high enough ? Just keeping a continuous flow with equal high with return ?

It’s always a balance with return pump power and drain valve setting.

What you really want is 3-10x sump to tank turnover (assuming you have power heads in the DT)

Yes I have two 1950gpm power heads

I'm going to assume that you meant 2100 liters per hour not minutes per hour.
That would make it about 550 gph not 12,600 gph.
The simplicity 3200 is most likely a jebao pump.
I put a piece of tape on my sump as my water line.
Once you get water flowing through your wier and into the sump your golden and can then pick a level that keeps water above where your pump won't suck air.
Could be 8 inches, 10. Whatever.
When water evaporates your sump level will go down, not the tank.
Then you add FRESH WATER to your sump to your tape line you made.
Or buy an ATO device.

Generally I would set it such that there arent excessive noise coming from return nozzle, the overflow, drains and baffles in the sump. That should land you in the ballpark of around 5-10x turnover.

Is this at start up? If so, just add more water. As others have said, pics would help.
 
That pump is rated at 2100 gallons per hour maximum . The pump that came with my 75 gallon innovative marine tank is rated at 2600 gph. You should be fine with that pump. I run my sump at 9 inches of water because that's where my skimmer works the best . Remember you have to have enough room in your sump for the water that will drain out of your tank if the power cuts . I have no idea what this spiral you have is . This is the first i've heard of it.
