Back to the Superman...What part is brown? I have a frag that has grown over the rock at the top of the tank. The flesh is beautiful purple but the polyps are brownish red. And as it expands the area just in front of the flesh is white, almost like the coral is cleaning the rock before it grows onto it. I pretty happy with it. The other thing that confuses me is it is growing very well, but the original frag has lost all of its polyps. Why might that happen?

May just be me, but I find that high flow is also imperative for encrusting montis to get a nice deeply colored base. When in low flow, my pokerstar has more of a purplish brown base, but in the higher flow areas, it's a vibrant blue. Are the polyps brown as well, or is it just the base?

I'd slowly light acclimate it and move it up to higher light. If the polyps are extending fully and it's just browned out it could be a variety of things ranging from parameters to lighting or flow. If your parameters are in check then just give it time and slowly move it up to higher light and flow. As stated above, montis are quite resilient, so it should color back up in time.

A little true is an understatement. We have a three page thread going about film on glass! Sorry, off topic. BlazinNano, please let keep us updated on the status of the monti.
