Ok I got a couple pieces of what is suppose to be a superman monti. The thing is they are completely grown. I am not an sps person at all. I have a 6x39watt Tek Light. Running all ATI bulbs. 5 blues and 1 white. Where do they need to be to color up?

What are your parameters? Light isn't the only factor for SPS coloration. For example, as nitrates increase, you will slowly lose colors such as blue and purple. Where in the tank do you have the monti? Did you light acclimate it? Did you recieve the coral that color?

Yes I got them completely brown. Friend of mine broke his and just left the frags on the sand bed and than gave them to me. I have had them a week and they are still on my sand bed.

I dont think its a nitrate issue. Try slowly acclimating the piece to higher light. Supermans will brown when shaded.

One week isn't enough time for them to color up, it will probably take about a month before they are colored back up. Like akwarius said, raise them in the tank so they can get more light.

I left them on the sandbed till I found an answer to where they need to go eventually. I know they would not color up that quick. Now how long between moving them up should I wait for each move?

Yeah I agree it's gonna take some time and perfect water conditions to bring them back. Browned sps can sometimes be tough to save.

I like to put new frags on my rack and raising the rack 6" a week until they are at my desired level. As for height at which they should be placed, how tall is your tank?

46 gallon bow so it is 20" deep and the light is about 4-5" off the water maybe 6".

In that tank with your lighting, I would raise the monet to about 14" high in your tank. I wouldb also raise the monti 3" once a week until you are at that level.

Yeah most montis can tolerate high lighting, they just have to be acclimated to it and youll see some amazing color.

Wish i would have know when i first was trying out sps...i bleached a few and figured they were goners - i woud have let them stay longer

Depends on the extent of the damage. With sps, if there is still flesh then there is still hope!
