Surfzone does Pterapogon kauderni (Banggai Cardinalfish)

So I noticed my male holding eggs about 2 days ago at feeding at first I thought it was a ghost hold, but I got a look to see eggs in his mouth. Here is the broodstock system details

Species: Pterapogon kauderni
Age: unknown bought as adults
Tank mates: trio of H. erectus.
Tank size: 30 gallon
Tank set up: soft coral reef, sump, and skimmer
Lighting cycle: 12 hours on 12 hours off

You mean like this: (i've see this many times. I dont know what happens to eggs after few days as its not holding them any more. Maybe he finds a spot for them and fry get sucked/killed by our tanks immense filtration.)

If he is holding for just a few days he is probably eating them due to lack of food. The male will spend up to 21 days without food while holding eggs. If he isn't properly fat he will eat them.

I dont think the one in my tank I pictured is a Male as I saw the sack of eggs come of of the body and then she grabbed them and put it in her mouth.

No, typical experience I have had - unfortunately- is that the parents will eat their babies. I keep them {babies} in a grow out or fry pen
