Surge protector and eb4

I know I can plug a surge protector into an eb4/8 but can I plug the eb4 into a surge protector. It’s a monster with rated 15 amps, 1400 watts. My plan was to run a t5(200) watts, a fan (20 watts) and an Orphek 120 bar (not sure on watts). My concern is this will go through 1 outlet on the surge, I couldn’t find a max per outlet, is it as simple as dividing total watts/amps by # of outlets? I do not currently have it setup like this but figured I would ask first before purchasing an eb4/8. Currently have an eb832 on a separate ups but can’t reach the outlet behind the tank to get the eb4 plugged directly in.

Also the ups has 2 sections, one for battery backup, 1 for standard. Since the eb832 is plugged into the backup can I plug the eb8/4 into the standard?

Plugging the EB4 into a surge protector will be fine, although I'm pretty sure the EB4 has built in surge protection also. As for the battery backup questions, I'd need to know which model you are using.

Thanks, I have 700 watts on this which is why I was considering using the surge protector, I would plug the eb4 in directly but unfortunately can’t reach the plugs and the stand is closed in the back. I didn’t think it out well as the switch over was an emergency related to a cracked aquarium

That's a tough situation to be in.

If you are currently running the UPS at 700 watts I would not plug anything else into it. The manufacturer doesn't indicate if the entire system is rated to 815W or if only the sum of the battery slots are rated to 815W.

Actually checked my apex and I am pulling 760 watts, 200 watts is from the t5, 20 watts from the fans, so in theory I could put just the Orphek and fans on the eb4 which shouldn’t be very much, plug the eb4 into the surge which is connected to a different plug than the ups. I have my 2 mp40’s and varios 6 on the surge.

I think that sounds reasonable.

Might be a good idea. Eventually you will need access to it. Might as well do it at a convenient time instead of waiting until it is an emergency.
