You think you've been keeping aquariums for too long for it to happen to you, only those novice keepers manage such a silly mistake. You've paid your dues in the past, you know what your aquariums taste like already.
Then you're mid-cleaning a couple of tanks and forget to clear your lines before starting a new siphon. Right into the mouth.

The salt water is so much worse than fresh! I was spitting and rinsed with Listerine after myself.That’s exactly what I did. Didn’t clear the line for the next siphon!

You did the right thing drinking the scotch. I gagged at the thought of that.Tank water isn't as bad as skimmate. Neither are as bad as gasoline though. Nothing like burping gas fumes for hours
You wouldn't want to swallow any around the coast of the UK. At least with aquarium water it's only fish poop you're swallowing.I do not start a siphon with my mouth but I have been to the ocean
