T 5 bulbs

Hi guys, new to the forum and my first post.

I'm going to be changing over my 180 gallon Fish only tank back to a LPS / softy tank.
The light fixture that I will be using is the one that I already have over the tank, which is a ATI 8 blub t5.
So my question is, what eight bulbs would you recommend using ?

Both ATI & Korallen-Zucht brands T5 bulbs will grow corals. I would go to BRS and select a few that they recommend and see what you get.

Otherwise, I would SEE the bulbs that LFS are using and look for a combination that produces a spectrum that you like and copy what they have.

It is impossible for me to select a spectrum of T5 bulbs that I like and hope that you agree. Only thing I can say is to get a few different bulbs to increase the waves of light produced unless you just want "blue" without extra purple, red, or green thrown in.

Whatever color combo you prefer the look of. All of then will grow coral.

ATI has an 8 bulb color recommendation on their website and how to place the bulbs in what order.
Other than that all I can say is it really depends on your preference and viewing pleasure.
As the 2 posters above have mentioned, and they know what they're talking about.

50/50 aqua blue special and blue plus

• 2 ATI Coral Plus
• 1 ATI Purple Plus
• 16K - 20K - Bluish white with a noticable blue and red under-tone

Started with 4 b plus and 4 c plus, credits to BigE, which is also a good thread to look up for combinations related to sps. Currently swapped to 2 6500ks, 2 coral plus, 4 blue plus. Acros are loving it.
