How many bulbs would I need for a standard 180 gallon tank that’s going to be pretty sps heavy. And would I be better off using 80 watt bulbs or 2 banks of 39 watt bulbs?

The more coverage and more bulbs the better.

I would personally go for the 80w fixture... replacing 8 bulbs every year is a lot more economical than replacing 16.
