Once my new system (270g 84"x30"x25") is up an running for several months I plan to add a few tangs. But I have questions. I 100% QT all my fish. But how should I go about adding let's say 5 tangs into a system? My plan was a 10g QT for each tang and once QT is complete, place all tangs in the DT. Does this sound correct? Is there a better way? Can I add tangs over time or do they have to be added together for the most success? I know they can be jerks and I normally use a mirror to distract my Kole Tang if he gets aggressive with a new fish. Just looking to see how others have done it. Any info is appreciated!

You can add over time as I did but place the least aggressive first
Adding a bunch at same time can impose an impact on the biodiversity of tank causing ammonia spikes and such

Adding together is usually the preferred method. The idea is that the fish are all disoriented when added to the display that they do not beat each other up. When they do notice each other, they accept each other as part of the landscape. Also getting small fish is a help. I think that small fish are more flexible in out look. Plus, to small fish, the display will look big.

If you add separate, increase the size of the new tang. I think pecking order usually goes by size in my experience. Nasos are the most peaceful so they can go right away. Awesome fish by the way. I recommend a big fish trap to acclimate for a couple days. Multiple if you're adding multiple. You will also need it to catch any bully. Pulling the bully out for a couple days and then reintroducing has worked for me. Tangs are greedy eaters so they're easier to catch. I've got the full gang in a 310 with no issues. Good luck and enjoy the fish
