Hello,

I am new to this online community as well as this hobby, so thanks for having me. I recently purchased what I thought was a Two Spot Bristletooth Tang aka Blue Eyed Tang for algae control, but now that I am closely examining him, he looks like he could be a juvenile Atlantic Blue Tang. Any help IDing him would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need different angles. It was hard to take any pics as he would hardly stay still. Also the reason why I think he is not a Two Spot Bristle is because he does not have any spots where they should be lol.

It’s definitely not juvenile Atlantic blue. It is a juvenile bristletooth but I don’t think it’s a two spot. I have a similar one called a blue lip bristletooth and yours looks like it’s making the transition from juvenile to adult in the top pic.

I think Scottr is right with the Bluelip. There is too much blue around the face and eyes to be the Indian Goldring. As long as he isn't a Blue Atlantic Tang I'll be fine. I hear they get pretty big and my tank doesn't have the capacity for that. It'll be interesting to see this little guys transformation. Thanks everyone for all the replies!

Here’s a good link with info and pics. Juveniles in this species are very yellow.
