Acros aren't my department, but I don't believe lack of polyp extension necessarily means they aren't doing well. I'll let someone else handle that part of the question.

Anyway, your 250 gallon looks to be really lightly stocked (not a bad thing) and can definitely handle some tangs.
When you say three bristle tooth tangs, do you mean the same species? It's generally better to mix tangs of different species, and better yet to mix three different genera...like a bristle tooth like kole, a Zebrasoma like yellow, and an Acanthurus like lieutenant. Depending on dimensions of the tank, a Naso could even be a possibility.

Tank is 72L"x 30W" x 30D"

wanted to stay away from Yellow and Blue. I like the school look of a group, that's why thinking 3 of same type.

I like that look as well, but with a little difference. I have three zebrasoma in my tank, same genus, different species. Yellow/Scopas/Sailfin. All three swim around together constantly.

3 tangs of the same type will not end well no matter what type. The only possible way that you can get it to work is in a much larger system with way more fish, specifically tangs to spread the aggression around. I would suggest you look into one of each from 3 different Genus if you want 3

Stay away from the same species but keep to the same genus. Like @Roid Reefs suggested, keep three zebrasomas or three different bristletooth tooth...Tomini, Kole, chevron, blue eye... I wouldn’t put more than one of any species even in a 250. When we had our 500, we had a yellow, purple, sailfin, orange shoulder, hippo, and vlamingi. All different. All got along.
